Circe-JW Waterhouse
'Circe Offering the Cup to Ulysses"

"Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams."

Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite

I sing of Aphrodite, the lover's goddess,
beautiful, golden crowned, a blossom
riding on the seafoam, resting on the wind.

She comes ashore, and women
in gold bracelets meet her, bearing
silken garments for her lovely body,
copper rings for her shell ears,
chains of gold for her silver breasts.
They lead her from the seashore.

Do not look upon her! Your eyes
would dazzle from such beauty.
But you do not need to see her.
You already know her. It is she
you moves you in your dance.
She is the music of your life.

Do you need to ask her name?

Call her Love. Call her Joy.

Call her golden Aphrodite.

Taliesin’s Love Song

I am the soft breeze that moves your golden hair.

I am the cool wind that brings color to your face.

I am the spindle that weaves the clothes you wear.

I am the fingers that sew the trim of lace that crown your beauty, that warms your Heart.

I am the songbird that sings your Love, that sounds your beauty, that beats your Heart.

I am the moonlight that showers your sleep, that deepens your beauty, that rests your Heart.

I am the starlight that illuminates your dreams. Love is all that it seems.

The Goddess Companion: Daily Meditations on the Feminine Spirit by Patricia Monaghan

"Prayers, poems, and songs to the Goddess from around the world and across the ages have been collected and adapted for the modern devotee in The Goddess Companion: Daily Meditations on the Feminine Spirit . Author Patricia Monaghan offers a disparate meditation for each day of the year, including February 29--April 5 is a Lithuanian folksong; August 6 a quotation from Proverbs; October 17 a Korean shaman's chant. After each prayer there is a two-paragraph "thought for the day" in which Monaghan offers the reader philosophical observations or helpful advice designed to assist living and growing in the spirit of the feminine. The very pretty purple and gold-embossed cover makes it an excellent nightstand adornment, and the gentle meditations are a stress-reducing way to begin or end your day by honoring Her and Her spirit in yourself." --P. Randall Cohan

Yet nature teaches us that there is no life without change, and that on this blue planet change occurs in cycles. We are moving through change each day, swimming in a temporal sea where nothing lasts, not even the moment in which you read these words. The more beautiful the moment, the more we regret to see its end - which is why we are so sorrowful as summer ends but happily bid winter farewell each spring. Yet we could have no more flowering springtimes if we did not say farewell to summer. Cherish each day as it passes, then let it slide away.
. ~ From "The Goddess Companion"

Women and Spirituality-VHS. A 3 Tape Set of the past, present and future of Women's Spirituality. 1) Goddess Remembered, 2) The Burning Times, 3) Full Circle. With Donna Read and the music of Loreena McKennitt

"When one thinks 'Holocaust', one is inevitably thinking of the 20th century massacre of Jews in Europe. As unspeakably horrible as it was, it wasn't the only one of its kind in Europe.
Earlier centuries saw thousands of women systematically murdered for their simple, unadvertised, beliefs in the Old Ways, a beautiful pagan religious view that judges no one and seeks no vengeance. THE BURNING TIMES is a beautiful account of women who were marched to their deaths for perceived blasphemy and witchcraft; GODDESS REMEMBERED is a somewhat thorough explanation of the religion and its history and practices today--it could be more thorough, but the filmmakers did go to the trouble of shooting on location in several instances.
This trilogy is wonderful because it's not preachy, but informative instead. I'm not necessarily a follower of this particular religion (or any religion) but I still enjoy this series as history. Other books may be necessary to learn about the tenants of the religion itself, and it may well be worthwhile to indulge in a worship meant to be so celebratory of women." (Amazon Review)

Lorenna McKennitt. Book of Secrets

"Lorenna's recordings always have the quality of a spiritual sojourn; her songs are those of a seeker, whether she's setting Yeats, Scripture, or her own words to her compositions. It's this that attracts people to her music, and The Book of Secrets is no exception, whether it's the lazy rhythms of "Marco Polo," the sober joy of "The Mummers' Dance," the poignancy of "Skellig" or "Dante's Prayer," or the drama of Alfred Noyes's "The Highwayman." "The Highwayman" is a particularly strong effort, especially in comparison to her earlier setting of "The Lady of Shalott"; McKennitt has become much more skilled at musical narrative. This is music that can be enjoyed on many levels, from McKennitt's growing skill as a composer to the deeper questions posed by her lyrics." (Amazon Review)

Libana. Night Passage

"Libana creates the most beautiful harmonies! Every song moves me...even the one or two that I don't "like" as much as the others. My favorites are "Whatever Circles from the Center", "Oh Mama Bakudala", "Dark of the Moon", "We All Come From the Goddess", and my top pick, "I Have a Million Nightengales". Libana's music evokes in me thoughts of women in community, singing, working, playing, worshiping, and celebrating together. The voices are astoundingly beautiful, the haromnies complex and satisfying, the song selections spiritual, contemplative, and celebratory. This is a wonderful album." (Amazon Review)
