"The starry vault of heaven is in truth the open book of cosmic projection,

in which are reflected the mythologems, i.e., the archetypes. In this vision astrology and alchemy,

the two classical functionaries of the psychology of the collective unconscious, join hands."

-Carl .G. Jung-

'Cadeucus' by Johfra

"Astrology is of particular interest to the psychologist, since it contains a sort of psychological experience which we call projected - this means that we find the psychological facts as it were in the constellations. This originally gave rise to the idea that these factors derive from the stars, whereas they are merely in a relation of synchronicity with them. I admit that this is a very curious fact which throws a peculiar light on the structure of the human mind. ...."

Carl G. Jung in 1947 in a letter to prof. B.V. Raman

Your Astrological Sign

Your Sun Zodiac sign may not best describe your personality features, your characteristics and general qualities which you bring to life. For many people, their Ascendant or its planetary ruler is the more obvious characteristic, or sometimes the Moon sign.
Your Sun sign, rather, says more about the direction you should be moving in, so as to make the contribution to humanity you were born to make, and thus achieve a degree of personal fulfilment.

Sagittarius November 22--December 21

Element: Fire. Glyph: The Archer, Centaur. Planet: Jupiter. Tree: Mulberry, oak, birch. Flower: Narcissus, holly, dandelion. Gemstone: Turquoise, Topaz. Power stones: Lapis, sodalite and azurite. Anatomy: Hips, thighs, liver, sciatic nerve. Key Word: Expansion. Key Phrase: I See. Colors: Royal blue and purple. Oils and Incense: Cedar wood, dragon’s blood, cinnamon, copal, tobacco.

Meditation: All Things in Harmony with Higher Law is Possible.

The animal associated with you sign is the Centaur.
The Greek love for the horse led to the ennoblement of the centaur in myth and legend. The Centaur Chiron was known for his wisdom and healing abilities. Nessus was killed by Hercules for trying to rape a woman under his charge, and other centaurs were renowned for their weakness for drink. The centaur symbolizes mankinds dual nature as an intellectual creature (the human half) which was also a physical animal (the horse half).

Topaz, the gem comes in many different colors and is a member of the quartz group. It aids in bringing forth your leadership qualities and enables you to grasp control of any situation you confront in life. Topaz makes you feel more in control of yourself or the situations you encounter and helps you deal with them in a competent fashion. It helps you take the lead and handle things in a competent fashion. Tradition has it that Topaz helped foretell the future, enhance sexual energy, and promote harmony.

Sagittarians have a positive outlook on life, are full of enterprise, energy, versatility, adventurousness and eagerness to extend experience beyond the physically familiar. They enjoy travelling and exploration, the more so because their minds are constantly open to new dimensions of thought. They are basically ambitious and optimistic, and continue to be so even when their hopes are dashed. Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer many disappointments without being affected. They are honorable, honest, trustworthy, truthful, generous and sincere, with a passion for justice. They are usually on the side of the underdog in society they will fight for any cause they believe to be just, and are prepared to be rebellious. They balance loyalty with independence.

Your ruling planet is JUPITER.

Capricorn December 22--January 19

Element: Earth. Glyph: The Goat. Planet: Saturn. Tree: Pine, elm, poplar. Gemstone: Garnet. Power stones: Diamond, quartz, onyx, black obsidian. Anatomy: Knees, joints and skeleton. Key Phrase: I Use. Colors: Dark green, brown and black. Key Word: Structure. Oil and Incense: Patchouli, musk, champas. Flower: Carnation and Ivy.

Meditation: Mastering the Challenge of the Physical Plane.

Capricorn is represented by a mythical creature who is half goat, half fish. In Greek mythology, the god Bacchus was sitting by a river when he was threatened by a monster. Fearing death, he dove in and transformed himself: underwater he was a fish who survived by swimming; above the water he was a goat with horns who could fight the monster. Jupiter (who, by the way, rules Sagittarius) was impressed enough to promote Bacchus to the heavens, where he remains as the constellation Capricorn to this day.

Capricorn is also the sign of sin and sacrifice. Sagittarius the centaur-archer is believed to have shot Capricorn, transforming him into a sacrificial goat, or scapegoat. This is the very foundation of many religions, including the story of Jesus the Christ.
In the Apocalypse, St. John explains that the Sun God (or son of God) is always born at midnight when the sun enters this sign of the winter solstice. The child is born in poverty, in a goat's manger in a stable, so that he can later save humankind as its sacrifical goat.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, a planet that orbits the sun very slowly. As a result, Capricorns are said to think the same way: long-term. Saturn's influence also means that the best day of the week for this sign is Saturday.

The function of Taurus, more than any other sign, is to witness to the value of the senses in human life. We are material beings with physical bodies which have needs and desires, and Taurus says, in effect, these needs are valid, the body's desires are to be valued and appreciated for their own sake. Good food, good wine, good sex, a beautifully furnished home and tastefully chosen clothing are all to be enjoyed, and can make Taureans feel good about themselves, and so make them more lively and satisfying contributors to human life as a whole.

After the exuberance, imagination and activity of the first sign of the zodiac, Aries, Taurus may seem to some rather slow and inert by comparison. But the spark which Aries provides would never take effect, would never be grounded in the physical world, unless there were people who could work out the practical implications and bring them to fruition.

Many who are sympathetic to astrology espouse deep spiritual values, and are seeking what is beyond the physical world, to put their lives into a framework of some form of ultimate divine meaning. Perhaps you know some of them, or may even be one yourself. Maybe you are often criticised by your more 'spiritual' or 'evolved' friends for being too earthbound and failing to seek a higher meaning to life. According to the law of opposites you are likely to attract such people into your sphere of influence! Listen to them, but do not be distracted from your enjoyment of the physical pleasures of life. For you, the path to the spiritual lies through the physical.

You may attract fiery spiritual people into your life whose values seem at odds with your own. This raises compatibility issues. Another energy you may attract is that represented by the sign opposite yours - Scorpio. For you, enjoyment of the physical world is a straightforward affair - why complicate it? Scorpio, however, says that you must get beneath the superficial appearance of things to the deeper significance, in particular the significance at the level of gut feeling. For Scorpio life must be intense at the feeling level, and they may get themselves involved in deeply complex situations just so that they can feel intensely engaged. Why? you might ask, especially if you love such a person with whom you strongly desire compatibility. Doesn't the sensual world provide pleasure enough by itself? No, not for some, and maybe not even for you in the long term, as we all have Scorpio energy in our birth charts somewhere.

The above is just a brief sketch of the sort of qualities Taurus should be aiming for. If you are experiencing difficulties on the way, the rest of your birth chart will indicate where these difficulties are, and a consultation would very likely provide clues as to how to deal with them. All aspects of our nature, as represented by the planets in signs and houses of our charts, need to be honoured and respected if the Sun is to effectively pursue its aims.

Gemini May 21--June 20

Cancer June 21--July 22

Leo July 23--August 22

Colors: Gold, black, red and orange. Anatomy: Heart, back and spine. Key Phrase: I Will. Key Word: Magnetism. Oils and Incense: Cedar, sandalwood, heliotrope, civet, copal, orange blossom.

Meditation: Self Glows with Light from the Source.

Virgo August 23--September 22

Element: Earth. Glyph: The Virgin. Planet: Mercury. Gemstone: Sapphire. Power Stones: Amethyst, rhodocrosite, rose quartz, amazonite. Flower: Morning glory, aster and pansy. Tree: Nut-bearing trees. Colors: navy blue, gray and teal. Anatomy: Intestines and nervous system. Oils and Incense: lavender, pine and tobacco for grounding. Key Word: Perfection. Key Phrase: I Analyze.

Meditation: Experience Love through Service.

Virgo is misleadingly given the name "Virgin." This naturally leads the mind into thoughts connected with sexual inexperience. The virginity associated with Virgo actually relates to discernment, to the idealism of choice. Think of a woman cutting down virgin wheat stalks with a scythe. This harvesting must be done at the right time in the right way! This idea of waiting for just the right time and being exacting in technique tells the story about the Virgo archetype. There is the sense of worried patience within Virgo.
In addition, the symbol for Virgo may be seen to depict the intestines, the long tubing inside our abdomen where food is managed.

The Virgo archetype reflects refinement, fastidiousness, discrimination, being exact, the cerebral nature, the practical and correct. Virgo's ruler is Mercury. (Yes, Mercury rules two Signs: Gemini and Virgo).

The traditional birthstone of amulet of September is the blue sapphire; and the aster and the
morning glory are the month's traditional flowers. September is shared by the astrological
signs of Virgo the Virgin and Libra the Scales (or Balance).

And is sacred to the following
Pagan deities: Persephone, Thor, and the Wiccan Goddess in Her aspect of the Mother.

During the month of September, the Great Solar Wheel of the Year is turned to the Autumnal
Equinox, one of the four Lesser Sabbats celebrated each year by Wiccans and modern
Witches throughout the world.

September's energy augments magic for prosperity and abundance, balanced with sensibility
and a little frugality. It is especially a time for rituals that thank the Goddess for all her gifts
throughout the year. Beyond this, start making amulets for health so that when the cooler winds come,
you'll be magically fortified.

Known as Ishtar  by the Babylonians.  And also was known to the Sumerians.
The Egyptians knew Virgo as Isis, the Goddess of Fertility.
The Hindus looked at Virgo as Kauni, or "the Maiden."
The Persians called her Khosha, or "the Ear of Wheat."
The Hebrews called her Bethulah, meaning "Abundance in Harvest."

Libra September 23--October 22

Element: Air. Glyph: The Scales Balancing. Planet: Venus. Gemstone: Opal. Power Stones: Tourmaline, kunzite and blue lace agate. Flower: Rose, cosmos and hydrangea. Tree: Almond, cypress and ash. Colors: Blue and lavender. Anatomy: Lower back, buttocks and kidneys. Oils and Incense: Rose geranium, heather, patchouli, ylang ylang. Key Word: Harmony. Key Phrase: I Balance.

Meditation: Creating Beauty and Harmony.

Libra is the only inanimate sign of the zodiac, all the others representing either humans or animals. Many modern astrologers regard it as the most desirable of zodiacal types because it represents the zenith of the year, the high point of the seasons, when the harvest of all the hard work of the spring is reaped. There is a mellowness and sense of relaxation in the air as mankind enjoys the last of the summer sun and the fruits of his toil. Librans too are among the most civilized of the twelve zodiacal characters and are often good looking. They have elegance, charm and good taste, are naturally kind, very gentle, and lovers of beauty, harmony (both in music and social living) and the pleasures that these bring.

They have good critical faculty and are able to stand back and look impartially at matters which call for an impartial judgment to be made on them. But they do not tolerate argument from anyone who challenges their opinions, for once they have reached a conclusion, its truth seems to them self-evident; and among their faults is an impatience of criticism and a greed for approval. But their characters are on the whole balanced, diplomatic and even tempered.

Librans are sensitive to the needs of others and have the gift, sometimes to an almost psychic extent, of understanding the emotional needs of their companions and meeting them with their own innate optimism - they are the kind of people of whom it is said, "They always make you feel better for having been with them." They are very social human beings. They loathe cruelty, viciousness and vulgarity and detest conflict between people, so they do their best to cooperate and compromise with everyone around them, and their ideal for their own circle and for society as a whole is unity.

Female Libran: Balance as an art of living is typical for her. She is cheerful, well educated, discreet and easy to get along with. She loves arts, neatness at her home and a tasteful art of living. She has a sense for the chances and circumstances of life and she can adjust to them and use them. Beauty, sensual experiences and love are the things she prefers to a day of hard work or other realistic activities.
Male Libran: He is ambitious, success and recognition in his job is what he needs. With his sense for diplomacy he can pour oil on troubled waters. He has a carefree nature and avoids all kinds of annoyance, argument or incompatibility. With his charme and his sense for people he is able to win people or their goals.

Planet: Venus
Minerals: diamond, beryll, agate, turquoise, coral, smaragd, saphire
Animals: pidgeon, singing birds, deer, maybug, lily of the valley
Plants: birch, poplar, pear, cherry, flowers, rosemary, strawberry, wheat
Color: light blue, pink
Countries: China, Japan, Tibet, Kaspian Sea, Birma, Argentinia,

Physical: kidneys, veins, bladder, lymph, prostate
Metal: copper
Day: friday
Strong Points: humanity, diplomacy, art lover, community spirit, care
Weak Points: snobbery, fickleness, tends to get lost in love
Tasks:  to give joie de vivre and warmth, art promotion
Number: 6

Scorpio October23--November 21

Element: Water. Glyph: The Scorpion. Planet: Pluto. Gemstone: Topaz. Power Stones: Obsidian, citrine and garnet. Flower: Chrysanthemum and rhododendron. Tree: Blackthorn and bushy trees. Anatomy: The genitals. Colors: Crimson, burgundy and maroon. Oils and Incense: Heather, jasmine, rose, sandalwood, vanilla, anything sensual. Key Word: Intensity. Key Phrase: I Desire.

Meditation: Mastery through Transformation.

Scorpians are the most intense, profound, powerful characters in the zodiac. Even when they appear self-controlled and calm there is a seething intensity of emotional energy under the placid exterior. They are like the volcano not far under the surface of a calm sea it may burst into eruption at any moment. But those of us who are particularly perceptive will be aware of the harnessed aggression, the immense forcefulness, magnetic intensity and often strangely hypnotic personality under the tranquil but watchful composure of the Scorpian.

Their tenacity and willpower are immense, their depth of character and passionate conviction overwhelming, yet they are deeply sensitive and easily moved by their emotions. Their sensitivity, together with a propensity for extreme likes and dislikes, make them easily hurt, quick to detect insult or injury to themselves (often when none is intended) and easily aroused to ferocious anger. This may express itself in such destructive speech or action that they make lifelong enemies by their outspokenness, for they find it difficult not to be overly critical of anything or anyone to whom they take a dislike. They can harness their abundant energy constructively, tempering their self-confidence with shrewdness and their ambition with magnanimity toward others provided they like them. If they do not, or if their feelings are neutral unusual with them they relate to fellow workers only as leaders and can be blunt to those they dislike to the point of cruelty. In fact they are not above expressing vindictiveness in deliberate cruelty.

They are too demanding, too unforgiving of faults in others, perhaps because they are not aware of the shortcomings within themselves, and extravagantly express their self-disgust in unreasonable resentment against their fellows. They do, however, make excellent friends, provided that their companions do nothing to impugn the honor of which Scorpians are very jealous. Part of the negative side of the Scorpian nature is a tendency to discard friends once they cease to be useful, but the decent native is aware of and fights this tendency. They are fortunate in that their strong reasoning powers are tempered with imagination and intuition, and these gifts, together with critical perception and analytical capacity, can enable Scorpians to penetrate to profundities.

Scorpio is the symbol of sex and Scorpians are passionate lovers, the most sensually energetic of all the signs. For them union with the beloved is a sacrament, an "outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace." Their overriding urge in loving is to use their power to penetrate beyond themselves and to lose themselves sexually in their partners in an almost mystical ecstasy, thus discovering the meaning of that union which is greater than individuality and is a marriage of the spirit as well as of flesh. They are thus capable of the greatest heights of passionate transport, but debauchery and perversion are always dangers, and Scorpians can become sadistic monsters of sensuality and eroticism. Their feelings are so intense that even when their love is of the highest and most idealistic kind, they are nevertheless frequently protagonists in tragic, even violent romances, "star-cross'd lovers" indeed.

BOOKS & FILMS

Linda Goodman's Star Signs by Linda Goodman

With knowledge of Astrology, Numerology and Lexigrams presented to us, I would suggest to many readers to start to put into practice these teachings. Thus, you will be able to attest to her words once again. For those of you who haven't got her `Purple Plates', I urge you to try them out as well. Burns, cuts and headaches tend to disappear very quickly when used.
Of her explanation of Karma, I used to always wonder why, if God is Love and He loved his children equally why would he harm some and glorify others. I realize now that Man has brought all his sins upon himself and has to pay for them through Karma and reincarnation.
Lastly, the list of books provided by Linda is of valuable assistance to the strong of heart. I would suggest getting the book `Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television'. Then unplug your TV and you will have more time to yourself. Then get the book `The Game of Life and How to Play It' by Florence Shinn and put it into practice. Other books that have proved extremely enjoyable are `Secrets of the Soil' & `Secret Life of Plants' by Peter Tompkins and other Joseph Goodavage books.

Linda Goodman's Sun Signs by Linda Goodman.

What makes this book great, is that it has seperate personality traits for males and females of the same sign, and traits for children, bosses, and employees. Get a new job? Find out your bosses birthday, then look him up in this book to find out the best way to ask this type of person for a raise, or what he likes or dislikes in his employees. Or for the employer, find out the same about your employees.
Instead of reading this book from front to back, you want to think of your best friends and family members, then read the chapters about them and see how scary close the descriptions really are.
After a while, when you know at least a few people of every sign, when you meet someone new, and find out their birthday, you just think about the other people you know with that sign, and you instantly know a lot about this person you never met before, because they will react and behave in the same way.
The other reason this book is a must, is that the cut off days that give the end of one sign, and the start of the next sign is exactly right from my experience. Many books will differ on dates, and I have known some people who say they don't know which sign they are, because some books say they are this, and other books say they are that, but knowing them after a while, it is not hard to see which one they actually are, and this book has always been acurate with the dates, when comparing to actual people I have known that are on those border dates.

Novus Magnificat..Thru the Stargate by Constance Demby-CD..

"Novus Magnificat, a gorgeous, otherworldly opus from classically trained pianist Constance Demby, has become a true classic in New Age music, appealing to a wide variety of listeners, many of whom are ordinarily put off by the genre. Rooted in worship music of the Western tradition, Demby's majestic improvisational vision produces what the 1986 disc's liner notes call "Contemporary classical Spacemusic: A Magnificat and Exaltate." Incorporating the central voice of synthesizer with a string-and-horn section, piano, organ, bells, and tympani, a choral voice joins with instrumental passages, setting a blissfully reverent tone throughout this two-part melodious marvel. Master composers Bach and Vivaldi come to mind when hearing the keyed chord progressions and swirling strings, making Novus Magnificat a keenly majestic score for use during massage, labor and birth, meditation, worship, or relaxation." The Day the Earth Stood Still. DVD. Directed by Robert Wise.

"A hallmark of the science fiction genre as well as a wry commentary on the political climate of the 1950s, The Day the Earth Stood Still is a sci-fi movie less concerned with special effects than with a social parable. A spacecraft lands in Washington, D.C., carrying a humanoid messenger from another world (Michael Rennie) imparting a warning to the people of Earth to cease their violent behavior. But panic ensues as the messenger lands and is shot by a nervous soldier. His large robot companion destroys the Capitol as the messenger escapes the confines of the hospital. He moves in with a family as a boarder and blends into society to observe the full range of the human experience. Director Robert Wise (West Side Story) not only provides one of the most recognizable icons of the science fiction world in his depiction of the massive robot loyal to his master, but he avoids the obvious camp elements of the story to create a quiet and observant story highlighting both the good and the bad in human nature." "Having arrived at Discovery near the planet Jupiter, the American mission leader (Roy Scheider) and his Russian counterpart (Helen Mirren) must investigate the apparent failure of the ship's infamous onboard computer, HAL 9000, as well as the meaning of countless mysterious black monoliths amassing on Jupiter's surface (an interpretation Kubrick originally left up to his viewers). Meanwhile, Earth is on the brink of nuclear war, and an apparition of astronaut David Bowman (Keir Dullea) appears to repeatedly promise that "something wonderful" is about to happen." Zed stows away inside Zardoz's enormous idol (a flying stone head) and is taken to the pastoral land of the Eternals, a matriarchal, quasi-medieval society that has achieved psychic abilities as well as immortality. Zed finds as much hope as disgust with the Eternals; their advancements have also robbed them of physical passion, turning their existence into a living death. Zed becomes the Eternals' unlikely messiah, but in order to save them--and himself--he must confront the truth behind Zardoz and his own identity inside the Tabernacle, the Eternals' omnipresent master computer."
