Ten Years After, with dynamic front man Alvin Lee, was born of the
second British Blues invasion and from 1966 to 1975 they rocked their
way into musical history.
From
the Midlands of England to a residency at London's famed Marquee Club
to the Fillmore West in San Francisco, Ten Years After's ride to fame
was built on some of the finest and most innovative blues/jazz/rock
music being offered. Catapulted into superstardom as a result of the
1969 Woodstock Festival, Alvin's Lee's dazzling performance in front
of nearly 500,000 rock fans is still considered a standard by which
other rock guitarists judge themselves. Lee's lead guitar and vocals
were bolstered by the talents of Leo Lyons on bass, Ric Lee on drums
and Chick Churchill on keyboards, and Ten Years After proved to be
a powerhouse of great blues rock.
With
28 U.S. tours in seven years , TYA was at its very best live on stage,
and a recently released CD - Live at the Fillmore East 1970 - continues
to show music fans what the fuss was all about.
Ten
Years After was one of the bands at Woodstock and at The Isle of Wight
Festival. They can be seen and heard in the Woodstock DVD, as well
as The Isle of Wight Festival DVD. Ten Years After perform their signature
song, I'm Going Home, in the Woodstock movie and I Can't Keep From
Crying in the The Isle of Wight Festival movie.
