Paul Heussenstamm

Carl Jung writes:
"I sketched every morning in a notebook a small circular drawing, a mandala,
which seemed to correspond to my inner situation at the time..
Only gradually did I discover what the mandala really is: the Self,
the wholeness for the personality which, if all goes well, is harmonious."

As a well known teacher, lecturer and fourth generation artist,
Paul has been sharing his unique gift of helping people discover their Soul
through his 'Art As A Spiritual Path' workshops worldwide.

Having traveled the world over, Paul shares his artistic capacity to explore and create sacred art
from many traditions such as Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity.
He has created over 500 unique and spiritual paintings for people throughout the world.

Recently his art has been featured in healing centers such as Deepak Chopra’s in La Jolla, California; Esalen,
in Big Sur, California; and Oglethorpe University Museum in Atlanta, Georgia.

Paul gladly accepts commissions
and offers the finest quality Giclee prints on canvas that he creates in his own studio.

Mandala
Mandala is a Sanskrit word meaning center and circle.
It conveys the notion that any center is tied to its circumference
and any circumference is always determined by its center.
Together they represent wholeness.

Examples of mandalas abound in nature.
Every cell in our body, for instance, is a living mandala.
So is the iris of our eye, a snow crystal, a bird's nest, a bicycle wheel, a spider's web, and Planet Earth herself.

Mandalas have been known to all cultures throughout history.
Individual designs vary greatly but they always have the following characteristics: a center,
cardinal points that can be contained in a circle, and usually some form of symmetry.

They can be very simple or extremely complex as in ancient Tibetan religious designs,
Navajo sand paintings, and huge stained glass windows in medieval cathedrals.

Contemplation of the mandala can lead to mystical insight.
Mandala's are an "eye" into one's interior that opens the psyche to the symbolic language of the soul.
This language can be applied to all of the manifest reality,
and once it's visual dynamism is understood the world and how we see it powerfully changes.

The mandala, is an ancient symbol and concentric map of the psyche.

Buddhist Art is considered to be 60,000 years old and goes back through time to Shamanic origins throughout Asia.
In the East, paintings are considered transmisions, an unbroken line from ancient times to the present.
