60s & 70s Music Lobby

I have compiled a collection of our favorite musicians and bands from the 60s & 70s and Beyond! I couldn't possibly put all the music that came out between 1960 and 1980. So I asked a few friends where they would start--and all of them said 'The Beatles." Which makes perfect sense, although I decided also to offer much, much, much more-bands & musicians prior to the 'Revolution' as a preamble to the top 100 bands of the 60s Era, Hippie Movement, Summer of Love, Woodstock Generation! I would have naturally started with Motown but I have decided to devote an entire store to their music.

You may want to peruse these store's to reorder music you have forgotten or if you need to replace those worn albums, cassettes or CD’s, or just to enjoy yourself and reminisce--sort of like a little museum.

You’ll also find biographies, photos, DVD selections, website links, and Pollstar, a Tour and Concert Directory that should have about everything you need to find a concert in your area and more. My listing is in no way complete, a true 'work in progress.'

I Love You Madly!

April 2006

"We were a generation, perhaps for the last time, that shared a common bond through our music, our art, our literarure, our heroes, our communal lifestyles, and yes, to the surprise of many, the world listened. And we DID make a difference.

In the years that followed, many generations have tried to emulate the achievements and the fun that history has already proven to be so meaningful. These days, new bands carry the musical banner for their contemporaries. Groups like Smashing Pumpkins, Dave Matthews, and Green Day appeal to latter-day flower children, Jakob Dylan and his Wallflowers carry the torch that his father lit more than 35 years ago. Bell-bottom and hip-hugger pants are back-thank gawd.

Sure, we were "psychedelicized"..the curtains moved and the colors all ran together, but in the words of Hunter Thompson, we trod heavily on the planet and left footprints that will last forever in the sands of time. Anybody got a light?
